Harry Potter HBO Series Casting Colin Creevey For Season 2
The production begins its search for the Gryffindor first-year as pre-production on Chamber of Secrets moves forward ahead of a fall filming start.

HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series has started casting the role of Colin Creevey for its second season, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Deadline reports the production is actively seeking a young actor to play the Muggle-born Gryffindor, a memorable new addition to the story.
Season 2 was officially greenlit in May 2026, months before the first season even premieres. Filming is expected to begin this fall, overlapping with post-production on Season 1, which debuts Christmas Day.
Colin Creevey is a wide-eyed first-year student who becomes instantly obsessed with Harry Potter upon arriving at Hogwarts. An enthusiastic photographer, he captures the magical world around him before falling victim to the basilisk in the second book. The character is known for his unshakeable loyalty and boundless curiosity.
The casting search signals that the series is deepening its roster of young Hogwarts students. The new trio and many classmates were introduced in Season 1, including Neville Longbottom and Draco Malfoy. Now, the show is expanding that circle with characters who become pivotal to later events.
What This Means for Season 2
The hunt for Colin Creevey comes amid other casting changes for the second season. HBO recently confirmed it will recast the role of Ginny Weasley after Gracie Cochrane departed due to what the network called “unforeseen circumstances.” Finding the right Colin is the latest piece in assembling the larger ensemble.
Showrunners Francesca Gardiner and Jon Brown are overseeing the adaptation, which aims to be a more faithful, chapter-by-chapter retelling of J.K. Rowling’s novels. The series is filming at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, the same site as the original movies.
With Season 1 wrapped and in post-production, all eyes are now on the Chamber of Secrets, which will expand the magical world and introduce beloved characters like Colin. More casting announcements are likely in the weeks ahead as the fall filming window approaches.
