New Not Universal-Owned Harry Potter Theme Park Announced

A newly announced Harry Potter theme park is set to exist outside of Universal’s existing Wizarding World attractions. The project marks the first major Potter-themed park not operated under Universal’s licensing umbrella.

Universal Parks & Resorts has held the exclusive theme park rights to Harry Potter since 2007, building immersive lands in Orlando, Hollywood, Osaka, and Beijing. This new development suggests Warner Bros. Discovery is charting its own course for location-based entertainment around the franchise.

A Shift in Wizarding World Strategy

The surprise announcement signals WBD’s intention to take direct control of how the property is experienced in physical spaces. The company’s CEO, David Zaslav, has repeatedly identified Harry Potter as a top franchise priority alongside DC and Game of Thrones.

No location, timeline, or design details have been released. The company has not yet clarified whether the park will be a new standalone site or a land within an existing resort.

A Busy Period for Harry Potter

The theme park news arrives as the Harry Potter TV series nears its Christmas Day 2026 premiere on HBO. Filming for the second season, adapting Chamber of Secrets, begins this fall at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden.

Across every medium, the Wizarding World is expanding rapidly. With a new park, a prestige television series, and renewed publishing efforts, the franchise is entering its most ambitious era since the original film series ended.

Fans will now wait for official confirmation from Warner Bros. Discovery about what this new park will include and where it will rise. More details are expected in the coming months.
