“Merrily We Roll Along,” the Broadway hit revival featuring Tony-winners Jonathan Groff and Daniel Radcliffe alongside nominee Lindsay Mendez, is being professionally filmed by RadicalMedia. This production company is known for its work on “Hamilton” and “Come From Away.”
A production insider revealed to Deadline that filming is indeed underway, but details about future plans such as a TV broadcast, streaming, or theatrical release remain unconfirmed. “Hamilton” was initially slated for theatrical release before moving to Disney+ due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while “Come From Away” streamed on Apple TV+.
Speculation about a “Merrily We Roll Along” proshot began last week when notices were posted along 44th Street in Manhattan, signaling that filming would take place on June 17 and June 18. These notices appeared near the Hudson Theatre, where the show is currently performed.
“The show producers are filming their production of ‘Merrily’ for posterity. That doesn’t happen very often. We’ll see what happens,” said the insider to Deadline.
On Sunday, “Merrily We Roll Along” won the Tony Award for Best Musical Revival. Jonathan Groff received the award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical, while Daniel Radcliffe won for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. Additionally, Jonathan Tunick earned the Tony for Best Orchestrations.
