HBO's Harry Potter TV Series Quidditch Uniforms Revealed — With a Major Twist
New Quidditch and Hogwarts uniforms from the HBO Harry Potter series were unveiled at Licensing Expo 2026, hinting at a major change to how the sport will look on screen.

HBO's Harry Potter series has given fans their clearest look yet at its new Quidditch and Hogwarts uniforms, and one design detail suggests the wizarding sport will look very different from the Warner Bros. films. Costumes from the HBO Harry Potter series were displayed at Licensing Expo 2026 this week at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, where signage accompanying the Quidditch uniforms hinted at a dramatic change to how players will fly.
According to the display, HBO's version of Quidditch will feature players flying horizontally across their broomsticks, with their legs bent backward and interlocked. That posture is a sharp departure from the Harry Potter films, where players sat upright astride their brooms like a bicycle or horse. The change suggests the new HBO Harry Potter series is aiming for a faster, more physically intense version of Quidditch.

The new HBO Harry Potter Quidditch uniforms
The Quidditch uniforms themselves have been redesigned for athleticism. Display notes describe the costumes as drawing inspiration from fencing gear, British motocross clothing and early 1990s school tracksuits. The trousers were built with extra room for bent knees and combine a patchwork of fabrics meant to allow a full range of motion. The jackets are described as aerodynamic, with lightly padded chests and adjustable fastenings at the wrists and ankles to keep out wind and rain.
Wizarding touches remain throughout the kit. Beneath the jackets, players wear Quidditch jerseys featuring a "sun-ray" design in their house colors. The boots, produced in the United Kingdom by Gamba Theatrical Footwear, are dyed to house colors and include an ankle motif of sun rays bursting through clouds.
The new Hogwarts uniforms
The HBO Harry Potter series also unveiled its Hogwarts school uniforms at Licensing Expo 2026. Display materials describe a custom tartan that weaves together the four house colors of Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. Lochcarron of Scotland produced the tartan, while the knitwear was created by Lochaven of Ayrshire, the same firm that worked on the original Harry Potter films. A custom shade of aubergine appears throughout the wardrobe as a unifying tone. Other details include organic cotton shirts with shell buttons, robes made from mohair and wool, and a new Hogwarts crest featuring an "H" with roots and branches growing from its top and bottom.
When does the HBO Harry Potter series come out?
Taken together, the reveals point to an HBO Harry Potter series aiming for a Hogwarts that feels handmade and rooted in British craft traditions, paired with a Quidditch that looks considerably more physical than the film version. How the new flying posture will play out in motion remains to be seen, but the design choices alone suggest a noticeably different take on the sport.
The HBO Harry Potter series stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, with John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. The series is expected to premiere on HBO and HBO Max in late 2026.
