Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed that the Hogwarts Express will be closed indefinitely beginning Wednesday, November 4, 2026. The closure affects the popular attraction that transports guests between Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure. Visitors who planned to ride between Hogsmeade Station in Islands of Adventure and King's Cross Station in Universal Studios should be prepared to walk between the parks instead.

An Indefinite Pause for Park-to-Park Travel

The Hogwarts Express requires a park-to-park ticket, and the ride is far more than a simple shuttle. Passengers watch the Hogwarts grounds and the wider wizarding world roll past their compartment windows, including an encounter with dementors along the way.

The indefinite closure follows news of a longer closure elsewhere at Islands of Adventure. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, the flagship attraction inside Hogwarts Castle, is scheduled to be closed from February 8, 2027, through February 19, 2027.

Both closures arrive during a busy period for Universal Destinations and Experiences. Universal Epic Universe opened in May 2025 as the Orlando resort's third theme park, bringing the Ministry of Magic land and its marquee ride, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, to the Wizarding World.

Wizarding World Keeps Expanding

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter now spans all three Universal Orlando parks, beginning with Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure and Diagon Alley at Universal Studios before expanding to Epic Universe. Refurbishment schedules can shift, so guests should check the official Universal Orlando Resort website or app for the latest attraction status.

For fans counting down to the HBO series premiere of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on December 25, 2026, the theme park closures are a reminder that the Wizarding World remains as busy as ever. As Universal continues to expand and refurbish its Potter experiences, fans should watch for further updates before planning their visits.
